How to Remove the Protective Film from Stainless Steel?

The term "stainless steel" refers to a group of metal alloys, each containing at least 10.5% chromium. Stainless steel is easy to clean and resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for appliances, plumbing, cookware, and tools. Stainless steel appliances usually come from shops and are covered with a protective plastic film that is held in place by static electricity. Removing this protective film is the first thing you should do once you have brought your stainless steel items home.

Step 1

Look for the edge of the protective film. This edge is usually aligned with the edge on the front of the appliance. The edge may also have a tab designed to make removal easier.

Step 2

Insert the tip of a plastic spatula or credit card between the edge of the protective film and the stainless steel. Do not scrape the stainless steel, simply use the plastic to wedge the protective film away from the stainless steel surface.

Step 3

Grasp the part of the protective film you have lifted from the stainless steel surface.

Step 4

Pull the protective film section away from the stainless steel. If you are starting at the top of the product, pull it down. If you are starting from the bottom of the product, pull upwards.

Step 5

Spray the stainless steel with white vinegar and wipe it with a paper towel to remove any residue from the protective film.

Do you need quality assurance for your stainless steel products? NB Technology's surface protection films cover your stainless steel, preventing scratches, scuffs, blemishes, and rust. Use the high-quality protective film to ensure your stainless steel retains its factory-fresh finish during projects or moves.

Our PE Protective Film will help protect these finishes from external hazards during transport, installation, or construction.

Jagged edges, rough surfaces, and sharp objects can cause damage to stainless steel. As the cost of repairing or refinishing stainless steel can be high, it pays to use an effective form of prevention. Our stainless steel protective film is the ideal preventive measure. It absorbs scratches and nicks that may occur during transport or during the course of a project. In addition, it can be applied to the steel surface without causing damage. Then, it is easily removed without leaving any residue.

At NB Technology, stainless steel protective film is just one of the many products we have in the shop. We offer bulk surface protection films for floors, carpets, countertops, and more. See more of our surface protection products.
